Bankstown Sports continued to march towards a third consecutive Women’s First Grade Premiership with a crushing win over Eastern Suburbs yesterday (March 7).

Bankstown bowled their opposition out for 57 with NSW Breakers player, Sharon Millanta, taking the outstanding figures of 5-6 from 5.1 overs! It was her third five wicket haul for the summer giving her 23 wickets at an average of 4.7!

Bankstown took just 8.4 overs to reach the victory target with openers Laura Wright (21 not out) and Carly Ryan (28 not out) doing the job in the 10 wicket win.

The Sydney Cricket Club scored an upset two wicket win over Gordon in their match at Drummoyne Oval.

Gordon batted first to post 175 with Hannah Trollip continuing her excellent form with 43, while Lauren Hamman made 37. In reply Sydney made 8-176 thanks to 51 from Kira Churchland and 46 not out to NSW leggie, Angela Reakes.

Northern District registered just their second win of the summer, beating Universities by six wickets. Uni’s batted first but were bowled out for 136 with Kate Owen (34) the top scorer.

For Northern District the pick of the bowlers was NSW under age representative, Sammy-Jo Johnson with 4-34 while Phoebe Rogers took 3-20. Melissa Norup led the Rangers with the bat, top scoring with 48 while Wui-Kwan Wong made 37 not out.

In the final match of the round, St George-Sutherland (5-158) defeated Campbelltown-Camden (99) by 59 runs.

There is just one round remaining in the Sydney Women’s First Grade competition. Bankstown Sports are the clear competition leaders on 90 points while St George-Sutherland, Gordon and Campbelltown-Camden make up the top four.
