The Michael Clarke Twenty20 Cup Final was played on Sunday 14th February, 2010 at the SCG. Among the many keen players were 3 girls from the Plumpton Glendenning U/12 team. Emma Geering, Jasmine Payne and Angel Lea love their cricket, so much so that they even love playing with the boys! The girls were asked a few questions about their involvement in cricket.
Most of the girls began their cricket in the U/10s, and have progressed through school cricket, in2CRICKET, and the CricHit program. All love every aspect of the game, particularly batting. The girls agreed that the Twenty20 format is a much more exciting game to play, and that they find themselves running around and touching the ball quite often.
Each girl, particularly opening bowler, Emma Geering, couldn’t believe how lucky they were to even set foot on the SCG. Not only were they playing on the SCG, but against a whole clad of boys!
‘It doesn’t bother us that we play with and against boys. It only bothers us when they go, “Come on boys… and girl”, now that’s annoying!’
The girls enjoyed their day at the SCG, and hope for many more days like that to come.
