2011/2012 INTERNATIONAL CRICKET SEASON
The 2011-12 cricket season will be one to savour when current World Cup holders India, and runners-up Sri Lanka, visit our shores to do battle over the summer months.
With a rivalry that stretches back many years, both Australia and India will be looking to attain dominance over the other in the second match of the Vodafone Test Series commencing in Sydney on Tuesday 3 January 2012.
Australia triumphed 2-1 the last time the two teams met in this country in 2008, while India exacted revenge later that year, and again in a shortened two-match series in 2010.
With the likelihood that it will be the last chance to see the ‘Little Master’, Sachin Tendulkar, appear in a Test match at the SCG, it will be an event not to miss.
In addition, India will also take on Australia in the Commonwealth Bank One Day International Series, with a day-night match at the SCG. Sri Lanka will also take part in a return to the Triangular Series format and will bring their own unique blend of stroke play through Tillakaratne Dilshan, Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara.
For those more interested in the rush of adrenaline, Sydney Olympic Park will host its first ever International cricket match on Wednesday 1 February, when Australia takes on India in a history-making KFC Twenty20 match that promises to be an action-packed night of entertainment.
