NSW and Australian representatives Simon Katich, Alex Blackwell and Ellyse Perry joined Cricket NSW Chairman, Dr Harry Harinath, Chief Executive David Gilbert and the Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Anthony Albanese, at the opening of the brand new pavilion at Drummoyne Oval (July 29).
The new facility features change rooms, a grandstand area and a function/viewing room situated almost right behind the bowler’s arm.
Drummoyne Oval is a sporting hub for the local community, and the new facility will be greatly appreciated by the cricket, AFL and rugby clubs that use the Oval.
Along with the Federal government and local council, Cricket NSW has been a major contributor to the project committing $500,000 to the re-development.
In addition, Minister Albanese also pledged further funds toward the construction of light towers at the ground as part of the next stage of the re-development.
Drummoyne Oval is no stranger to top quality cricket matches. The ground has already hosted Domestic One Day matches, Women’s National Cricket League fixtures and women’s Internationals. Cricket NSW has also scheduled matches there this summer.
