Sydney Women’s Grade club, the St George-Sutherland Slayers, hosted an international match of sorts last week when they took on a team of students from Chuo University in Japan (February 14).

While St George-Sutherland ran out winners in the Twenty20 match, both sides enjoyed the experience and exchanged gifts after the match.

The students’ trip was sponsored by Kingsgrove Sports Centre who also provided the tourists with some professional coaching before the match.

The Chuo girls have only been playing cricket for two years, however, they displayed excellent techniques and improved significantly during their time in Australia.

Chuo University also sent a men’s team to Sydney with that side playing matches against the Kingsgrove Sports Academy.

Both the men and women also travelled to Bowral for fixtures against Oxley College and a Southern Highland’s XI respectively.
