The Lend Lease Breakers will play an inter-squad match this Saturday (February 25) at Blacktown International Sportspark as part of the players’ preparations for International tours to India and New Zealand next month.
Though it has been over a month since the side won a record-breaking seventh consecutive Women’s National Cricket League title, the Lend Lease Breakers have been kept busy with International commitments.
Nine players, Alex Blackwell, Alyssa Healy, Ellyse Perry, Sarah Coyte, Lisa Sthalekar, Leah Poulton, Sharon Millanta, Rachael Haynes and Erin Osborne were part of the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars squad which recently played New Zealand in Sydney, with all set to tour India next month (March 6-26).
A further seven Lend Lease Breakers, Angela Reakes, Nicola Carey, Katie Mack, Claire Koski, Kara Sutherland, Hannah Trollip and Keeghan Tucker, have been named in the Australian Youth team to tour New Zealand (March 12-23).
This weekend’s fixture at Blacktown International Sportspark is the second inter-squad game for the Lend Lease Breakers this month, with Alex Blackwell’s XI defeating Rachael Haynes’ XI in the first clash a fortnight ago which was heavily affected by rain.
The Australian coaching staff have also used these matches to give players from interstate the opportunity to get some quality match practice under their belts.
Southern Stars Jodie Fields, Meg Lanning, Jess Cameron and Jess Jonassen were all involved in Game One while Jonassen and Julie Hunter will play this weekend along with Youth squad players Erin Burns and Megan Schutt.
